NOTES: THINK ABOUT TEACHERS

Teachers' self-efficacy must be valued…

and the administration’s trust in their opinions on their use of technology must be acknowledged and validated.

  • Teachers must be trusted by administrators from three perspectives, attitudes, and beliefs:

  • Trust in teachers' thoughts, feelings, and stories about what they value using a specific technology. Believe what teachers have to say about their experience.

  • Trust in the beliefs that teachers sincerely want to use technology solutions that improve their students’ achievement

  • Trust that teachers are not to blame if they resist or challenge any particular technology that makes their lives harder and not easier

  • Trust that teachers want to use technology solutions that reasonably are easier to use. For instance, would one pay so much for an iPhone if one had to be trained, trained, and trained to use it? Or if it made your life harder and not easier?

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
